The Bookshop Nashville, a Delightful, Local Bookstore in East Nashville

The Bookshop Nashville

Nashville has a reputation as a hub for songwriters and musicians, but the city also has some great literary attractions, too. Like the small, but incredibly well-curated, The Bookshop. Since I love all things book-related, it’s no surprise that The Bookshop is one of my favorite places to visit in East Nashville.

Here’s everything you need to know before you go! Also, be sure to check out my list of best bookstores in Nashville, too.

Inside The Bookshop Nashville

Me at The Bookshop

Sandwiched between Hanna Bee Coffee and Peninsula, this tiny neighborhood bookstore is in a great location. (It’s definitely nice that you can grab a coffee before or after you browse the books.)

The Bookshop is only about a 500-square foot shop, but there’s a lot packed inside. Owner Joelle Herr does an excellent job of selecting titles to carry. While the store might not have every single book on your to-read list, you’ll find plenty of books that look interesting.

I almost never go into The Bookshop with a plan to get a specific book because I always find more books I want than I could possibly buy in one trip. It’s a great place to discover new reads that weren’t on your radar. Of course, if you’re looking for a specific book, they can order it for you if they don’t have it.

Besides books, you’ll find a few other fun goodies like stickers, cards, and puzzles. It’s easy to pick up a literary-inspired gift for a book-loving friend when you’re not sure what books they already own.

The Bookshop does a good job of hosting special events and creating a reading community. You’ll find authors doing book launches and book signings here on a regular basis. I’ve attended their Silent Book Clubs before (where you read with company but don’t have to actually talk), and they’ve done several reader retreats that look like so much fun!

Another thing to love about The Bookshop is that they are certified by Nashville Living Wage which means that they pay their employees a liveable wage for the area. Nashville is expensive so that’s a big deal for a store here.

Obviously, there are lots of good reasons to support The Bookshop. But, it’s also really just such a fun place to visit. The store is bright and beautiful, and there are books on basically every surface. It’s a dream space for any book lover. And, if it were any larger you might be tempted to wonder if you could just stay forever!

The Bookshop is located at 1043 W Eastland Ave, Nashville, TN 37206. You can check out their website for more information.
