Find the Best Pastries in Chattanooga at Wayward Pastry Co

Searching for coffee and baked goods in Chattanooga? You have lots of great options, but one of my absolute favorites is Wayward Pastry Co in St. Elmo. The bakery is a recent addition to Chattanooga and is conveniently located on the way to Lookout Mountain. Obviously, I had to make a stop there on my most recent visit to Chattanooga.
Wayward Pastry Co is a cozy cafe with delicious pastries
Wayward Pastry Co is housed in an old fire station which gives it a unique character. There’s a good amount of space inside to sit with friends, and the backyard patio is so beautiful and dreamy. Even though the bakery only opened a few months ago, it feels like it’s been around for years.
Of course, it takes more than just a great atmosphere to have a good cafe, and the food here does not disappoint. I ordered a pain au chocolat, and it was one of the best I’ve ever had (and since I lived in France for several years, that is a big deal).
Wayward Pastry Co does an excellent job of making delicious pastries including danishes, croissants, and kough-ammans. It’s obvious that someone really knows what they are doing in the bakery and is able to make both traditional options and add their own twists as well.
I also ordered an iced lavender London fog, and that was wonderful, too. While I’m not a huge coffee person, I can confirm that the drink menu had lots of choices for lattes, cold brews, matcha, and other popular drinks.
Wayward Pastry Co should absolutely be on your list of things to do in Chattanooga! I still can’t believe just how good the pastries are here.
