Yeast Nashville: Music City’s Spot for Kolaches & Delicious Pastries

Cinnamon roll from Yeast Nashville

When you’re craving a morning treat, Yeast Nashville is one of the best spots to go to pick up local favorites. Nashville isn’t exactly known for kolaches, a Czech pastry that’s popular in Texas thanks to immigrants who settled there during the 1800s, but the LaViolettes have been supplying Music City with this delicious pastry (and much more) since 2013.

Since I’m always up for baked goods in the morning, it’s probably no surprise that I’ve made my way to Yeast Nashville to grab a quick breakfast on multiple occasions.

Where to Find Yeast Nashville

The original location of Yeast Nashville is located on Woodland in East Nashville. This is the location that I’ve been to. It’s fairly compact, and while there is some seating, it’s not a lot. Most people pop in and out quickly.

If you’re used to other Instagram-friendly bakeries in Nashville, Yeast Nashville is definitely not it. The interior is cozy, but there aren’t photo opps set up around the store. The main focus is on the pastries (and they’re absolutely worth it).

Yeast Nashville opened a new Donelson location in February 2024. I haven’t been to the Donelson one yet, but I’ve heard that there is a constant stream of customers just like in the East Nashville location, so it feels safe to assume that things are working just fine there, too.

What to Expect at Yeast Nashville

Since the LaViolettes specifically wanted to bring the kolaches they loved in Houston to Nashville, the kolaches are the star at Yeast Nashville. I’ll be honest that I have no idea what Texas kolaches (much less Czech kolaches) are supposed to taste like, but the ones here are delicious.

Besides the kolaches, the breakfast tacos are also popular. You can get other items like muffins, quiche, and cinnamon rolls, too. The cinnamon rolls are one of my absolute favorites, so I’d highly recommend getting them! Coffee and tea plus a few other drinks are on the menu as well.

The focus at Yeast Nashville really is on producing good quality food. The prices are reasonable for what you get, especially since the items they offer tend to be pretty substantial. (I usually cut my cinnamon roll into two pieces and save one for later because it’s too much to have all at once.)

There’s a reason why there’s nearly always a line at Yeast Nashville, but don’t worry because it moves pretty quickly. Yeast Nashville is absolutely a solid local favorite. They’re only open until noon every day, so you’ll want to plan accordingly if you visit.

The original location of Yeast Nashville is at 805 Woodland St #300, Nashville, TN 37206. You can find the menu and more information on their website.
