Stop by Downtown to Browse the Nashville Farmers’ Market

Stall at the Nashville Farmers’ Market

Last updated: 3/6/25

The Nashville Farmers’ Market is one of the most reliable stops in the city if you’re looking for produce and other local products in downtown. The year-round market is very popular.

When I first visited the Nashville Farmers’ Market I wasn’t immediately in love just because of the density of the crowds on weekends, but I’ve come around. There’s just so much to like about the market that it’s worth dealing with a little busyness.

Make sure to read my guide to Downtown Nashville while you’re here!

What to Know Before You Go

The two outdoor farm sheds are open every day of the week. Some vendors are at the farm sheds daily, but you’ll find most vendors Friday through Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm.

The market has member vendors as well as visiting vendors that change more frequently. You’ll always find produce, meat, eggs, honey, and all the usual items you’d expect at a farmers’ market. There are also handmade items like soap and jewelry.

Since the farm sheds have a roof, you don’t have to worry about the weather making your outing unpleasant. Especially during the summer, some of the other markets get too hot because they aren’t shaded. Plus, you don’t have to be concerned about getting caught in the rain either.

On the weekends, there are also food trucks at the market, so you can grab a meal and eat at the picnic tables if you like.

The location of the Nashville Farmers’ Market is what makes it unbearable in comparison to other markets in the area.

The farm sheds are attached to the Markethouse, where you’ll find a ton of different eateries plus some local shops. There’s frequently live music at the Markethouse. I go here for lunch way too often.

Me in the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park

Right next to the market is the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park. There’s a paved pathway to walk around, lots of open green space perfect for a picnic, and a great view of Nashville’s Capitol building.

Then, there’s also the Tennessee State Museum, one of my favorite free attractions in Nashville. Here you can learn about the history of the state. I really like the children’s area at the museum, too.

With these other attractions literally just steps away, you can easily fill a morning or afternoon without needing to drive once you’ve parked (just pay attention to the time limits in some of the parking areas).

There really is no other place in Nashville quite like the Nashville Farmers’ Market. It’s a great way to support local vendors and shops. And, there’s so much to do nearby that it makes a perfect outing.

If you’re only going to go to one farmers’ market in the city or if you’re only free on the weekends, the Nashville Farmers’ Market is the best choice (despite my feelings about the crowds).

Also, if you’ve never been before, it’s worth checking out at least once. Even if you’re a devoted fan of a different farmers market in your neighborhood.

The Nashville Farmers’ Market is located at 900 Rosa L Parks Blvd, Nashville, TN 37208. For more info see their website.
