Discover a Little Bit of France in Nashville at Little Gourmand

Me outside Little Gourmand

If you want to soak up the French lifestyle for a bit minus the long plane ride and expensive tickets, you’ll want to check out Little Gourmand.

Little Gourmand is a French Patisserie with two locations in Nashville.

I lived in France for two years, so Little Gourmand is one of my favorite places to visit in Nashville.

The Green Hills location of Little Gourmand opened in 2014. The store, which is tucked away in a cute shopping center, is a market and cafe. There’s also a newer location in Melrose that is just a cafe.

I realize that people don’t necessarily come to Nashville to experience authentic French treats, but I try to bring everyone who comes to visit me to Little Gourmand at least once.

What’s at the Market

A few of the French items you can buy

If you have a craving for a specific imported French food, you might find it in Little Gourmand’s market. You’ll find things here like cookies, mustards, teas, and olive oil.

I’ve found some fun potato chip flavors (although they unfortunately don’t have my favorite mustard-flavored chips), and you can also get Teisseire syrup to mix with sparkling water to create a refreshing soda on a warm day.

The store is worth visiting just to browse the different products.

Trying Out the Cafe

We took a sandwich to-go to a nearby park

Of course, you can’t walk out of Little Gourmand without buying something from the cafe. Everything just looks too delicious! The croissants, sandwiches, and quiches are all good, but the French pastries are absolutely wonderful.

If you’re not sure what to start with, the eclairs are always a good idea. I’ve never actually had any pastries from Little Gourmand I didn’t like, so you really can’t go wrong no matter what you pick.

I’m not an expert on French pastries, but I did eat kind of a lot of them while I was living in France. These are just as delicious as I remember. The only other place in Nashville doing anything nearly as good is D’Andrews Bakery in Downtown, but the parking situation is significantly easier here.

At the Melrose Location

In addition to the Green Hills location, there’s a more recent Little Gourmand location in Melrose. This location is only a cafe rather than the full cafe plus market of the original location.

I’ve been to this one a couple times and the food selection is just as good as the original location. However, there is no seating and the atmosphere is just a bit less charming (not because of the people working there, the building itself is just not as cute).
