You’ll Love This Charming Bookstore in Historic Downtown Franklin – Landmark Booksellers
There are lots of great things to do around Franklin, but for book lovers, visiting Landmark Booksellers should be at the top of the list. The charming bookstore, which is owned by a husband and wife team, opened in 2005, and the building itself dates back to 1808.
If you’ve read my other articles on Seeing Tennessee, like my guide to the best bookstores in Tennessee, it probably comes as no surprise that I loved visiting Landmark Booksellers.

Inside Landmark Booksellers
Landmark Booksellers is a dream for anyone who loves books. The store carries a curated selection of new, old, and rare books, including a wide variety of subjects and authors. You’ll find all kinds of fiction, non-fiction, and children’s books here. I love the way the shop is set up to allow you to meander through different sections and rooms containing different topics.
The shop feels cozy and welcoming and a bit like you’ve stumbled into someone’s home library (except much larger than a normal home library). While Landmark Booksellers carries signed first editions and other rare books, the store doesn’t feel intimidating, and there’s a good number of more affordable books as well. The vibe here is very classic in a good way.
I appreciate that the store carries local authors and books on local topics. I’m a litle obsessed with books by university presses, and I was able to find a book on Tennessee history published through the University of Tennessee Press.
Landmark Booksellers hosts author events on a regular basis as well as book clubs/reading groups.
As an added bonus, the store is right in Historic Downtown Franklin (which explains why it’s in such a beautiful old building). It’s easy to pop into Landmark Booksellers while browsing the other great boutiques, stores, galleries, and restaurants in the area.
