HEARTS Nashville: A Delicious All-day Australian Brunch Spot

Hearts in East Nashville

When you think about the food scene in Nashville, one of the last things that come to mind is Australian cuisine, but surprisingly enough, Nashville has at least one Aussie option (as of right now). The owners of HEARTS were inspired by the food and coffee scene in Melbourne, Australia and have brought a little bit of the cafe culture here to Nashville.

HEARTS serves breakfast and lunch with a menu of egg-based dishes, salads, sandwiches, and other healthy dishes.

HEARTS Review

Hearts 12 South location

There’s nothing I love more than a good brunch, so it’s surprising that we’ve lived in Nashville for so long without trying HEARTS. But, with so many great brunch spots in Nashville, you could probably try out a different place every weekend for a year and still not make it to them all.

The parking lot for HEARTS in East Nashville always looks packed on the weekend, but luckily we were able to swing by in the middle of the week. The inside is absolutely adorable, but a bit small. There’s plenty of outdoor seating for when the weather is nice though.

A location in 12 South opened within the past year. I’d assume that it’s generally as busy as the one in East Nashville. I can’t say for certain though because I insisted that we go during the first week it was open (because I wanted to go before it got super busy).

Delicious All-Day Australian-Inspired Breakfast Food

Twice-cooked French toast with kiwi syrup from HEARTS Nashville
Twice-cooked French toast

I tried out the twice-cooked french toast with fresh kiwi and strawberries, kiwi syrup, and citrus meringue and was absolutely blown away. French toast is my go-to brunch order, but I’ve never had anything quite like this. The french toast was sweet without being overly sweet and all the flavors worked together so well. Plus, the bread was possibly the best bread I’ve had in a while. I know I should try something else next time we go, but also I really just want the french toast again.

My husband went with the chicken katsu roll and was just as happy with it as I was with the french toast. It’s a little bit dangerous that we know just how good HEARTS is now because it’s going to be hard not to order online and pick up food from there more often than we should.

Besides breakfast and lunch, HEARTS has an after-hours menu Friday and Saturday evenings when the restaurant is open later. Although we haven’t had a chance to try that out, I imagine it would be equally as delicious.

There’s nowhere else in Nashville doing quite the same thing as HEARTS, so it’s definitely worth heading to East Nashville (or 12 South) to enjoy.

HEARTS is located at 914 Gallatin Ave, Nashville, TN, 37206. Visit their website to see their hours and preview the menu.
