A Nashville Local’s Guide to Green Hills

Green Hills is one of Nashville’s trendiest neighborhoods. The upscale residential area is home to lots of great shopping along with some great restaurants, bars, and bakeries.
As a Nashville local, I’ve put together a list of the places you can’t miss while in Green Hills. Like always, I only recommend spots I have personally been to and enjoyed.

Shopping
Parnassus Books

Parnassus Books is owned by author Ann Patchett, and is probably the most popular indie bookstore in Nashville.
The store has a great selection of books and just feels really welcoming overall. Make sure to check the event schedule because there’s always author signings, book clubs, and other fun activities going on!
If you love bookstores, you’ll probably also enjoy reading my list of the best bookstores in Nashville.

Mall at Green Hills

The Mall at Green Hills is a high end mall with over 120 stores. You’ll find luxury storefronts like Burberry, Chanel, David Yurmen, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Tiffany & Co.
I especially enjoy LUSH and L’Occitant, and this mall is the only place nearby with those storefronts.
The only downside to this mall is that there isn’t a real food court, but there are a few places to eat nearby.

Hill Center

Hill Center is another cluster of high end stores in the area. The open-air shopping center is home to Anthropologie, lululemon, Pottery Barn, West Elm, Kendra Scott, Whole Foods, Shake Shack, and more.

White’s Mercantile

White’s Mercantile is one of the shops in Hill Center, but it gets its own space because it’s one of my favorites. White’s Mercantile is a curated general store with so many fun items.
The store carries home items and decor, women’s and men’s clothing, children’s clothes and toys, books, journals, and cards.
You’ll definitely want to stop by to browse the shelves!

Things to Do
Green Hills Park

The Green Hills Park may only be 12 acres, but there’s still plenty to enjoy. The park has a great playground, a pavilion with shade, and a walking path.
While you’re there, you can also work out at the fitness station or play catch in the open grassy area.
If you happen to be around in September, look up the dates for Green Hills Park Festival, a family-friendly (free) event that takes place every year.

Green Hills Library Branch

Unfortunately, the Green Hills Library is temporarily closed for renovations. However, given that this branch is already one of my favorites, I can’t wait to see how much better it is once renovations are complete!
The library has great spots for working and studying along with a children’s area, a teen makerspace, and a gallery with pieces from local artists.
The library is not supposed to be closed for too long, and it will definitely be worth visiting once the renovations are complete.

Food & Drink
Greenhouse Bar

One of my absolute favorite places in Nashville! GreenHouse Bar is, in fact, a greenhouse, which makes visiting this bar really unique. It’s such a cool atmosphere.
The drinks here are good, and the food is so great (which makes sense because it’s by the same people who run the Food Company). I love the chicken salad!

Fox’s Donut Den

Fox’s Donut Den is a classic donut shop that has been around for decades. It feels very nostalgic to walk in.
The donuts here are very unfussy and just plain good. It beats the average chain donut shop by a mile.

Little Gourmand

If you love anything and everything French, Little Gourmand is the place for you. This spot is both a cafe and a shop. So you can pick up some delicious French pastries, tartlets, croissants, or baguettes while also browsing French products.

Emmy Squared
Emmy Squared is technically a pizza chain, but I had to include it because I love it. The Detroit-style pizza here is just so good! Plus, it’s close to the mall, so it’s the perfect lunch or dinner during a day of shopping.
My go-to order is the Angel Pizza with ricotta and truffle cream, mushrooms, and a bit of pesto. Zia Fries are very nice as well, but you’ll probably need someone to split them with.
