Best Things to Do in Nashville in September (Updated for 2026)
Nashville is a southern city, but since it actually does experience all four seasons, there’s a chance that the weather is starting to cool off in September. This means that there’s a lot going on during the month because organizers assume that the temperature will be more pleasant than it was in August.

September Events in Nashville
Nashville Fair
2026 Event Dates: September 11-22
The Nashville Fair features fun activities for all ages. Attractions include live music, midway carnival games and rides, special events like dinner shows, comedy, and line dancing, a kid zone, agriculture hall exhibits, and much more.
The Nashville Fair takes place at the Fairgrounds. Hours are 5 – 9:30 pm Monday through Friday and 11 am – 9:30 pm on weekends. Tickets range from $7 – $10. On-site parking is $10. (Make sure you bring cash for parking.)
Musicians Corner
2026 Event Dates: 4, 5, 6, 11, 18, 25
The 2025 fall series of Musicians Corner continues through September. This free annual concert series highlights artists from Nashville and more. The event takes place in Centennial Park at the corner of 27th Ave N & West End.
The lineup changes each day, so you can catch your favorites and also discover new-to-you artists.
Local food vendors are on-site during the events, and there is a pub area that serves drinks to those 21+.
Little ones can also attend and enjoy the fun at Kidsville. We love bringing our toddler to the Kidsville at the Parthenon on Saturdays during the rest of the year, and there’s something for all ages of kids.
AmericanaFest
2026 Event Dates: September 15-19
Hosted by the Americana Music Association, AmericanaFest is for both industry professionals and music fans. The festival has a mix of artist shows along with music industry panels. Access to different events and panels is based on which festival pass you buy.
The basic festival pass, which allows you to go to nightly showcases and some special events is $150. The Silver and Gold passes give you more access and other perks. The Silver pass is $385 for members and $505 for non-members. The Gold Circle pass is $1349.
At some artist showcases, you may be able to buy tickets at the door instead of using a festival pass if there is additional capacity at the venue.
Grassroots & Nudie Suits
2026 Event Dates: September 12
The second ever Grassroots & Nudie Suits festival and concert is being held in Madison this year. The festival portion of the day from 11 am to 5 pm is free. You can enjoy live music, food and drink, and fun activities for kids during this time.
The concert portion of the day starts at 7 pm at Harken Hall. Artists are The Cowpokes, Madeleine Kelson, Goldpine, and Rosemary Schultz. Floor seats start at $41.

Full Moon Pickin’ Party
2026 Event Dates: September 25
The Full Moon Pickin’ Party is a bluegrass music series that takes place once each month from May until September. The event is held in Percy Warner Park, and proceeds go to the Friends of Warner Parks which preserves and protects the parks.
Food truck vendors will be on-site, and outside food is allowed as well (although outside alcohol is not allowed).
Admission is $25 per person. Children under 12 can enter for free Tickets need to be bought online in advance.

Nashville Sounds
2026 Event Dates: September 1-6, 15-20
The Nashville Sounds are the city’s Minor League Baseball team. Home games take place at First Horizon Park, which features a scoreboard that’s shaped like a guitar.
Tickets start at $17 Monday-Wednesday and $24 Thursday through Friday. Tickets are cheaper if you buy them in advance. Highlights include Tito’s Tail Waggin’ Tuesdays where dogs are allowed into the park with special tickets, Friday Fireworks which take place post game every Friday, and Sunday Family Fun Days.
Nightlight 615
2026 Event Dates: September 18
Nightlight 615 is an outdoor movie series for 21+ that takes place May through October. The event includes a pre-movie DJ, a bar, and local food trucks. It’s one of my favorite events of the summer. The event usually takes place in the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, but for this month, the movie is being shown in Wasioto Park.
The movie being shown in September is Project Hail Mary on September 18. Make sure to buy your tickets in advance because the most popular movies sell out quickly!
Advance general admission tickets are $9.99, standard general admission tickets are $14.99, and day of general admission tickets are $20.99.
Fridays by the River
2026 Event Dates: September 11, 18, 25
Friends of Shelby hosts Fridays by the River to benefit Shelby Bottoms and Park. The event includes beer, food trucks, live music, and games. Admission is free.
Tennessee Titans
2026 Event Dates: September 13, 20
The regular NFL season kicks off this month. You can catch the Tennessee Titans at home playing the Jets on September 13 and the Eagles on September 20.
The game is at Nissan Stadium, which is an open-air stadium (at least until the new stadium is completed), so watch the weather forecasts to be prepared for rain or unusual temperatures.
Tickets start at $42.
Shows & Live Music
There is always music going on somewhere in the city. You can listen to live music at most of the bars in Downtown and other parts of Nashville.
I also recommend checking the lineup at different music venues around town including Nissan Stadium, Ascend Amphitheater, 5 Spot, Basement East, the Ryman, the Grand Ole Opry, and Bridgestone Arena.
A few bigger names that might be of interest (I’m very uncool and am just picking some artists I’ve heard of) are Brooks & Dunn at Bridgestone on September 12, Shaboozey at Ascend on September 18, Luke Bryan at Bridgestone on September 24, Kacey Musgraves at Bridgestone on September 27 & 28.
