Everything You Need to Know About the Music City Walk of Fame
You’ve probably heard of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but did you know Nashville has its own version honoring important figures in the music industry? Since Nashville is not only the home of country music, but a hub for the music industry as a whole, it makes sense that the city would showcase some of the biggest talents who have contributed to the city’s musical heritage.
The Music City Walk of Fame Park is located directly across from the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. If you’re a serious music fan, you’re probably going to be in the area anyway.
The Music City Walk of Fame doesn’t have anywhere near the 2.5k+ stars that the Hollywood Walk of Fame has. However, the park was only established in 2006, so it isn’t surprising that this attraction would be a bit smaller with just shy of 100 stars (at least for the moment).
Stars are awarded not only to musicians but also to those in the music industry who have made a significant impact, so you’ll come across record executives, songwriters, and more. One of the most interesting names is Manuel Cuevas, a fashion designer who has created numerous outfits for artists including John Lennon, Hank Williams, Elton John, and Elvis Presley. Johnny Cash was a client of his for over 40 years.
Inductees are added twice a year in the spring and the fall. The most recent group in fall of 2023 included Darius Rucker, Don McLean, Duane Eddy, and Joe Galante. Some of the stars that I was most excited to see on my last visit to the park were Trisha Yearwood, Dolly Parton, and Wynonna Judd.
If you’re in Downtown Nashville already it’s worth taking 15 to 30 minutes to walk around the park and find some of the stars honoring your favorite musicians. Plus, it’s a free attraction in a city that can sometimes be pricey for visitors. So, there’s really no reason to skip it.
