The Cupcake Collection, Home of the Sweet Potato Cupcake (Nashville)

Cupcakes aren’t having the same moment they were having back in the early 2000s, but the Cupcake Collection has remained popular and has even expanded to more locations around Nashville. The Cupcake Collection is particularly known for its signature sweet potato cupcake,
I first heard about the Cupcake Collection while reading owner Mignon Francois’s book Made From Scratch when she was featured at the Mississippi Book Festival, so naturally, I had to make the short drive to the Germantown neighborhood to check out the cupcakes for myself!
The Cupcake Collection Is a Local Favorite
The Cupcake Collection first opened in 2008 in historic Germantown, and now has additional locations in Hendersonville and Lenox Village. The Germantown location is a welcoming blue house that’s perfect for this down-to-earth bakery that’s a local favorite.
The menu includes a variety of cupcakes, including a couple gluten-free options. You can also get a pupcake if you have a furry friend you want to treat.
So far, I’ve tried the sweet potato cupcakes and red velvet cupcakes. The sweet potato one has lots of spices and reminds me of Christmas (probably because I associate the flavors with sweet potato pie).
I expected the sweet potato to be my favorite, but it turns out that I absolutely love the red velvet cupcake. It might be a basic flavor, but the Cupcake Collection executes red velvet perfectly. If you’ve been disappointed by red velvet at other bakeries, give the flavor another try here.
Almost every flavor has devoted fans though. Next up on my list to try are the wedding cake and strawberry cupcakes.
You can also order cakes if you have a celebration coming up. I haven’t tried a cake from the bakery yet, but given the quality of the cupcakes, the cakes are almost certain to be perfect.
The Cupcake Collection has really perfected creating treats that bring joy. It feels like getting cupcakes from your best friend who happens to be a fabulous baker.
If you love cupcakes, you need to make your way to the Cupcake Collection ASAP! I’d also suggest giving them a follow on social media so that you know when they have special flavors available. Some change out seasonally and a few are only around for certain holidays.
